n8n for Tourism Marketers: Build Your First Automation in 30 Minutes
I've been helping tourism brands escape their manual marketing using n8n. Here's a simple...

If you're looking for an SEO specialist and a search engine has somehow led you to my site, that's great. However, I want you to know what this page is for. It's an experiment designed to show that forcing the phrase “near me” into your content doesn't necessarily improve your rankings in local SEO.
You typed "SEO service near me" or something close to it. Maybe you added your city. Maybe you left it vague and let Google figure out where you are. Either way, you ended up here, and that's the first thing I want to talk to you about.
Because your guests do exactly the same thing."Dive center near me." "Boutique hotel near me." "Adventure tour near me."These are real searches, happening thousands of times a day, and the businesses that show up for them are not necessarily the best ones in the area. They're the ones that understood how Google interprets location intent.

From Discovery to Growth
Every engagement follows a clear, repeatable process - but the strategy inside it is built around your site, your market, and your goals. Here is exactly what working together looks like, from the first conversation to measurable results.
Ranking in the local pack (the map results) for relevant searches is not optional for any tourism business with a physical location.
Not just filling in, but actively managing the profile with posts, Q&A, photo strategy, review response, and category accuracy.
Your NAP (name, address, phone) must match across every directory, booking platform, and review site Google can find.
LocalBusiness schema, and related markup that gives Google machine-readable confirmation of who you are, and what you do
How I Can Help You Grow?
If you're a tourism operator reading this, not just because you're looking to hire someone, but because you want to understand the mechanics, here's what I'd tell you about "near me" optimization:
Google doesn’t match “near me” literally against your content. It resolves the query using the searcher’s location and your relevance signals. Writing “SEO Expert near me” into your copy won’t help, and it will make human reader cringe.
If your GBP is incomplete, inconsistent, or inactive, you’re not competing for near me visibility. Category selection, service areas, and regular posts all feed into how confidently Google places you in front of local searches.
Your business name, address, and phone number need to match exactly across every directory, booking platform, and review site Google can find. One listing with an old address or a slightly different business name is enough to introduce doubt. Google doesn’t rank businesses it’s uncertain about.
Volume, recency, and keyword diversity in your reviews tell Google what you do and where you do it. A dive center in Tenerife with 200 reviews mentioning “Tenerife,” “diving,” and “liveaboard” is far easier for Google to place in local results than one with 12 generic reviews and no location references.
A page that genuinely covers the destination – conditions, seasons, what to expect, how to get there – signals local authority. Not because it mentions a city name ten times, but because it answers the questions travelers and Google associate with that place. Thin content with bolded location names fools nobody.
In most tourism niches, GBP is neglected. Operators post once in 2021 and forget it exists. If you’re actively posting, updating photos, responding to every review you will outperform competitors with better websites and worse profiles. This is genuinely low-hanging fruit that most businesses ignore.
Case Study

Costa Rica Divers is the clearest example of what I do and how I think. No existing website, no brand, no search footprint. Just a great service and an empty results page. I built everything from scratch: site architecture, content strategy, booking funnels, technical SEO, and multilingual setup across three languages.
Within two months the site hit 300,000 search impressions. Organic search became the number one booking channel, ahead of social media, walk-ins, and referrals combined. Zero OTA dependency from day one.
What made it work wasn't a template or a checklist. It was understanding exactly how travellers search for dive experiences, and building every page around that intent.
Peter completely transformed our online visibility. Within a few months we were ranking for terms we never thought we could compete for, and direct bookings increased noticeably. The whole process was transparent and he always explained what he was doing and why.
Boutique Hotel Owner, Costa Rica
We brought Peter in to lead SEO operations for several of our clients and the results were outstanding. He managed the team with a clear strategic vision, kept clients informed at every stage, and delivered rankings that genuinely moved the needle on revenue.
Marketing Director at Valde Media
We partnered with Peter from day one. Before we had a website, visibility, or a single organic booking. His job was to build our entire digital presence from scratch: SEO strategy, content, conversion funnels, the whole thing. It took a lot of hard work, but it paid off.

Every segment of tourism searches differently. A DMO competes against aggregators. A dive centre competes against experience platforms. A yacht charter company barely shows up in organic search at all. I've worked across all of them, and that breadth is what makes the difference.

DMO’s compete against the very platforms that list their attractions. I help DMOs reclaim authority in search, becoming the definitive source for travellers researching where to go, what to do, and how to get there. When someone asks Google or an AI about your destination, you should be the answer.

Every direct booking saved from OTA commission is revenue reclaimed. I help hotels and resorts build organic search presence that reduces dependency on third-party platforms, bringing more guests directly to your booking engine at a fraction of the acquisition cost. Less Booking.com. More margin.

Travellers search for experiences long before they search for operators. I help tour operators and travel agencies appear where the decision is made - during the research phase, when someone is comparing options for their trip. When they're ready to book, your brand will be already the trusted answer.

This is where my story starts. I built the entire digital presence of a dive centre from scratch – branding, content, SEO, and booking funnel, turning it into the number one customer touchpoint for the business, outperforming social media, walk-ins, and referrals combined. I know this segment from the inside.

Cruise and yacht businesses operate in one of the highest-value segments of tourism and one of the most underserved from an SEO perspective. Most competitors rely on brokers and listing platforms. I help cruise lines, yacht charter companies, and liveaboard operators build direct organic visibility.

Travellers looking for ski resorts, safari operators, or rafting experiences search with high intent and very specific queries. I help adventure and outdoor brands capture that traffic directly, building content and technical foundations that turn search visibility into enquiries and bookings.
SEO Services for Tourism is a discipline and working with the right person matters. These are the questions clients ask most before we start. Answered directly, without the agency spin.

Technically yes, but it’s harder. Google strongly favors businesses with a verified physical address for near me queries. If you operate remotely or across multiple destinations, the best lever you have is a well-optimized Google Business Profile with a real service area defined – combined with destination-specific landing pages that establish geographic relevance through content rather than a pin on a map.
Proximity is one of three factors Google uses for local rankings. The other two are relevance and prominence. A competitor further away can outrank you if their GBP is more complete, their reviews are more recent, and their website more clearly signals what they do. Distance is the tiebreaker, not the deciding factor.
No, and it can look odd. Google doesn’t need to see the phrase in your copy to serve you for near me searches. What it needs is confidence that you’re the right answer for someone in a specific location asking about your category. Build that confidence through signals, not by inserting awkward phrases into your headings.
More than most operators realize, and the share is growing as mobile search dominates. “Hotel near me” generates millions of searches monthly globally. Niche variants like “liveaboard diving near me” or “guided hiking tour near me” have lower volume but dramatically higher conversion intent. Someone searching that phrase has a credit card ready. Missing that search is an expensive gap.
